In Episode 15 of “The Belonging Place” Kylee Shields sits down with her friends. Vanessa & Yahosh Bonner. They talk about God, Family, the importance of a name, basketball, Haiti, adoption, black culture & history, humanitarian service, and more. Vanessa is a social worker, mother, and helps support the orphanage in Haiti where she was adopted. Yahosh is a performer, the Athletic Director at American Heritage, and part of the Bonner Family singers. Together they have 4 children whom they love deeply.

Kylee Shields is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and the Clinical Director of Juniper. Juniper is a trauma informed, community based outpatient treatment program for youth ages 13-18 who have experienced sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. Juniper part of the Malouf Foundation and a part of PHASE Alliance ( Malouf Foundation + The Elizabeth Smart Foundation + Fight The New Drug). PHASE stands for prevention and healing against sexual exploitation. Throughout her career she has worked closely with adolescents in the areas of trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, oppositional defiance, bereavement, processing disorders, process addictions, and more. She draws from her prior experience working at EFY, residential treatment settings, HEFY, a therapeutic boarding school, and wilderness therapy. Kylee is a published author, co-founder of a non-profit (INSPIRE: Music. Service.Hope), Music Director of the Utah chapter of INSPIRE Chorus, Advisory Board Member of Heare Brotherhood, and a world traveler. Kylee enjoys writing, playing her piano (Ella Mae), singing, spending time with friends, nieces and nephews, and being outdoors.

In Episode 13 Kylee talks with her friend Ben Schilaty about life in the PNW, his love for cacti, his parents, His housemate Charlotte, and so much more. Ben hosts the podcast, “All Out In The Open” formerly “Questions From The Closet. He is an author, a professor of Social Work at UVU, and he loves Arizona and Cacti.

In Episode 12 Kylee brings on her long time friend Annie Carter to talk about life, her Kindness Camp, her own podcast, why she DJ’s youth dances, and so much more. Annie is very vulnerable and opens about her life, her divorces, her children, and what she does to not only find joy in her life but also to build “wells” of belonging where others can find joy as well. In Episode 11 Kylee speaks with guest Nichole about women in leadership, the belonging place that LinkedIN can be, and so much more. Kylee and Nichole initially met in person for the first time at an after Silicon Slopes event that Nichole helped put together. In Episode 8 we change it up a bit and Kylee Shields is interviewed by one of her best friends Alycesun Clare (previous guest). Kylee Talks about her life, the loss of her brother, some of the reasons she wanted to start “The Belonging Place” podcast, failing forward, building “wells”, and more.

In Episode 7 Kylee Shields and her friend John Moore talk about painting murals, men’s mental health, Heare Brotherhood, being a father, and more. Kylee is on the Advisory Board at Heare and they are a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Heare provides opportunity for men to connect, learn, and grow through retreats, conferences, and so much more.

In Episode 6 Kylee Shields and her best friend Alycesun Clare talk about the importance of having your person, the ups and downs of 2 decades of friendship, Alycesun’s journey in life, how being vulnerable with those you love invites deeper connection, and much more. Alycesun is the sunshine and hope and Kylee loves to eat Chick-Fil-A with her and just talk for hours.

In Episode 5 Kylee Shields and Elise Gubler talk about her life and all the all its twists and turns. Elise shares how being in different counties and spending time with different people has brought a lot of joy and growth into her life. While she describes her journey thus far as unconventional and nonlinear—she does feel like it has been guided and curated just for her.

In Episode 3 Kylee Shields talks with her long time and GOOD friend Joseph Moore. Joseph discuss how to truly help humanity through kindness, love, community and connection. Kylee and Joseph talk about their friendship, the importance of critical feedback done with love, the power of building a music community, and much more. Joseph is infectious and has a huge heart--not to mention the most incredibly beautiful voice!

In Episode 2 of “The Belonging Place” host Kylee Shields interviews Kristen Metzger. Kristen shares about her time with a leprosy colony in Hawaii, epic heartbreak, leadership, the healing power of nature, the importance being still, and so much more. She talks about her love of food, how charcuterie boards are the best gathering tool, and how finding purpose in times of trial help her feel connected. Kristen is light and love!

In the new podcast, “The Belonging Place,” host Kylee Shields interviews Ronell Hugh. Ronell shares about his diverse background, how he’s a soccer coach to youth in his community and how he creates belonging. Ronell approaches life with curiosity and a thirst to learn and grow.
