The Acceptance Letter (& Epic Mistake)

I am so excited to share my good news...I'm getting published. I've been waiting to sign my book contract before I announced. So here is what happened after I got rejected twice.

My cousin Kelly Nelson had told me she was getting her YA fiction novel published and I decided to check out her publishing company. They looked awesome and I decided, on a whim, to send my manuscript and cover letter to them.

Here is where I made the EPIC MISTAKE. Because I decided on a whim to send my manuscript to them I didn't address it to them but instead sent them the same cover letter that I sent to Covenant (don't EVER do that!!!)

Fortunately, my manuscript and improperly titled cover letter landed on the desk of a wonderful editor, Linda Mulleneaux.

  1. I have a friend who made that mistake with applying to law firms too. However, any reasonable person (like your new publisher) understands the formality that it is, and totally got where you were going. That is awesome.
